Tina Barth, Resident of County Meadows Hershey, received a beautiful wig donated by “Nightgowns for Nanas” – an area charity founded by a very special 9 yr. old girl named Kiera Kloop. Kiera, who attends Commonwealth Charter school, started this charity as a way to help those in nursing centers/retirement communities who could benefit from the donation of personal care items that they may be unable to get on their own. As the reigning Capital City Elite Jr. Supreme Queen, Kiera was inspired by the pageant’s own local charitable work and their community minded motto “Building Character Through Service.”
Tina original wig was ruined when accidentally placed in a clothes dryer. When Lisa Garmen, stylist for Matura was asked if she could fix the acrylic wig, she concluded that sadly, is was beyond repair. Since Tina wore a petite wig size, Lisa Garmen remembered that she had 2 petite sized wigs in the right colors in her home salon. So, Lisa offered to donate one of the wigs to Kiera’s charity (Kiera is Lisa's granddaughter). Tina chose the wig she liked best and Lisa custom trimmed and styled it for just for her – a beautiful ending to the story!
Congratulations to Kiera and her charity on their first official donation. Special thanks to Lisa Garmen for her professional contribution and compliments to Tina on her beautiful new look.
Look for Kiera and her sister queens who are planning an upcoming appearance @Kadima Nursing Center in Campbelltown in December to entertain residents with their talents, refreshments and a special visit from St. Nick!
