On Saturday, October 10, Matura Field Manager Cathy Cox and her team of stylists particpated in the Walk to END Alzheimers in Kutztown, PA. "Painting a purple streak in participants' hair was a fun way to show support in the fight against Alzheimers," commented Cathy, who is certified in the Alzheimer's Association essentiALZ, CARES Dementia Program. "We had a fabulous turnout and it was truly a moving and humbling experience for me."

On October 1, 2015, Matura Salon & Spa Management kicked off the new "Think Pink" Campaign to raise awareness about the importance of early detection in helping to increase women's chances of survival from breast cancer. Residents, families and staff are showing their support with a temporary PINK streak painted in their hair by our stylists.

The results of a recently completed three-year clinical trial funded by the National Institutes of Health and the National Institute on Aging demonstrate that an innovative new approach to dementia care has proven successful in significantly increasing levels of social engagement and quality of life for individuals living with Alzheimer's, while also reducing their apathy and symptoms of depression.
